• Introduced the Community Living Option (CLO) Family Partnership
• Piloted Full Life Future Planning to enable individuals, their families, and other members of their support network to create a picture for the individual’s future
• Launched the VIP Academy to give individuals with disabilities a opportunity to continue their education after high school
2002
• CIF became an Illinois not-for-profit organization
• Introduced the Public Benefits Consultation to help families better understand the funds available to them and how to maintain them
• Launched the What’s Next? Consultation to help families address legal and financial issues
2003
• Launched first Community Living Options (CLO) residence in Evanston, Illinois
• Started providing Independent Living Skills Tutoring and Personal Support Services
2004
• Opened second CLO residence in Evanston, Illinois
• Introduced Independent Living Readiness Inventory to assess skill levels and identify needed supports
2005
• Conducted first transition planning consultation in cooperation with educators to train families on how to prepare for life after high school
• Launched the New Futures Initiative to enable families and organizations in other communities to replicate our programs and service models
2006
• Opened third Evanston CLO residence, based on an accessible home-ownership model
• Awarded New Visions Grant; began training coaches to facilitate Full Life Future Planning
2007
• Adapted Full Life Future Planning for a high school setting; piloted the product with a local high school special education department
• Expanded staff and moved into a larger office space in Evanston
2008
• Opened fourth Evanston CLO residence, also based on an accessible home-ownership model
• Established endowment fund with the Evanston Community Foundation to ensure long-term, organizational sustainability
• Invited individuals outside of CLO residences to participate in CIF activities and events through Community Membership
• Piloted Life Tools Camp to give individuals with disabilities an opportunity to practice independent living skills in an experiential setting
