Helping individuals determine next steps for independent living
"The inventory is an incredibly thorough and comprehensive evaluation of independent living skills. As a mother and my son's case manager for over 20 years, I can say that after going through this consultation, I am confident Jonathon has identified the skills and supports he needs as he transitions from our home into a more independent living setting."
parent, parent educator, and Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities Member
The Independent Living Readiness Inventory is an integrated evaluation and interactive assessment of a young adult’s daily living skills and experiences to help determine the support he or she needs to enable a successful transition to living away from home. The Inventory is used either in preparation for moving to an independent setting or as a tool for high school transition planning.
The Independent Living Readiness Inventory is a proprietary product and can be licensed for use in family groups, schools, or organizations. Individuals who are interested in administering the inventory go through a comprehensive training and seek certification to become Independent Living Readiness Inventory consultants.
In this hands-on training, participants observe a certified consultant modeling the process with a family who is going through the inventory. Participants then get to practice their skills by working with the family and consultant to complete the process and formulate final recommendations for the family.
Participants have access to continued support from certified consultants, who provide feedback on the trainee’s first three Independent Living Readiness Inventory reports.
