Center for Independent Futures' 2010 Life Tools Camp was a great success.  CIF staff members hosted seven camp participants, and led them through the foundational instruction of what it takes to live a full and more independent life. 

This year's day camp experience was Monday through Friday during the weeks of August 2 and August 9. CIF's Full Life Model provided the framework for camp activities which included meal preparation, shopping, budgeting, cleaning, planning fun activities, using public transportation, community safety and first aid instruction, and learning to get along with each other and build positive relationships.

JJ’s List announced today that Jane Doyle, Ph.D., executive director and co-founder of Center for Independent Futures, will be honored at the JJ’s List first annual fundraiser cocktail reception benefit on October 1st at Pinstripes in Northbrook, IL.

“Jane gives untold hours, energy, and professional expertise to support individuals with disabilities to be an active part of their communities,” said JJ Hanley, executive director and founder of JJ’s List.   “JJ’s List works toward full integration of people with disabilities into the community and Jane’s leadership and generosity has helped pave the way for our successes.”

Hello! My name is Julie Larson and I am a Life Skills Tutor with Center for Independent Futures. I tutor eight individuals with disabilities and we meet on a weekly basis in their homes to create goals, hone independent living skills, and make plans for their future. I am passionate about supporting CIF participants as they dream about their future and then make their dreams happen.
