Bad news! The following severe cuts to disability services for children and adults for the current fiscal year were ordered by the State of Illinois Governor's Budget Office beginning as soon as possible:
- Most grant funded services will be eliminated in this fiscal year including respite, dental, training and epilepsy grants.
- Family Assistance Grants will be reduced by 50% in this fiscal year and eliminated in F2012.
- Home-Based Services for children and adults will see a 10% cut on the current cap immediately.
- At this time, the 6% cut to Medicaid rates is still scheduled for July 1, 2011.
Sen. Mattie Hunter, chair of the Senate Appropriations II Committee, has called a hearing on DHS cuts for the current fiscal year on Thursday, Feb. 24th at 10:00 a.m. in Room 16-503, Thompson Center.
We need to make our voices heard! Tell your Governor and legislators that these cuts are unacceptable, and that we need a supplemental appropriation to fund these important services. Take time to make this important telephone call today!
