CIF Opens Satellite Office in Highland Park

June 8, 2015

Center for Independent Futures is excited to announce an expansion of our network through a satellite office in Highland Park, Ill. There, CIF staff will further our mission by bringing new solutions to more communities, focusing on broadening the reach of our direct service, our work with educators, and our housing initiatives.

By providing a meeting space closer to communities farther north of Evanston, the satellite location will allow more families to connect with the direct services CIF offers. Life Skills Tutors will use the office as a homebase as they work with individuals in a wider geographic area. CIF will also bring its Full Life Futures ProcessTM to more schools and districts, giving increasing numbers of students access to CIF’s suite of person-centered planning tools, skills assessments, and skills training curriculum. Additionally, the location can become a hub for family groups developing alternative housing options for their loved ones.

Cynthia Witherspoon, Community Life Coordinator and School Consultation Staff, will be in the office on Tuesdays, and Margaret Tanenberg, CIF’s Director of Family Connections and Community Resources, will work from the office on Thursdays. In this new location, CIF will share space with long-time CIF Resource Partner Micki Moran of the The Child & Family Law Center of the North Shore. CIF looks forward to building on this relationship while developing new partnerships in northern Chicagoland communities.
