Volunteer Club Creates Healthy Breakfasts

May 7, 2015

In April, Center for Independent Futures’ Volunteer Club made breakfasts for Connections for the Homeless, an organization that has been serving the Evanston community for over 30 years. For this project, CIF volunteers loaded paper bags with juice, fruit, and hard-boiled eggs to create a balanced and nutritious meal. They also made colorful cards to brighten the days of the clients who received the breakfasts.

The meals were served at the Day Program of Connections for the Homeless, which provides services to support people on the path back to stable housing. Daily services include health resources, employment and educational groups, and planning with case workers. “As our clients are homeless, they are not always assured of a regular meal,” Connections for the Homeless shares on its website. “The breakfasts you donate provide them tangible support as they work towards self-sufficiency.”

CIF’s Volunteer Club is happy to help Evanston community members experiencing homelessness as they work toward their goals.
